Pole Base Installation Helps Save Time & Money On Fulfillment Center Project
When providing site lighting for a 2.5-million-square-foot (233,000-square-meter) fulfillment center, the solution needs to fit the scale. CalPortland Concrete Products provided the perfect solution with Pole Base precast site lighting foundations.
THE CHALLENGE
When providing site lighting for a 2.5-million-square-foot (233,000-square-meter) fulfillment center, the solution needs to fit the scale. It needs to be reliable and install quickly to keep the entire project on track.
CalPortland Concrete Products (formerly Southwest Concrete Products) provided the perfect solution with Pole Base precast site lighting foundations. The versatility of the Pole Base forming system allows for uniform-looking bases with built-to-spec internal conduit placements and bolt patterns.
THE SOLUTION
The entire project called for 135 bases, which meant it wasn't only a massive first project for CalPortland, but also one of the biggest Pole Base projects ever.
The bases, all in the Round Smooth texture, ranged in height from four to 11 feet (1.2 to 3.5 meters) tall. While they all provided the same finished aesthetic to tie the site together, the installers were able to expedite installation with the custom conduit placements and anchor bolt patterns for each particular base.
THE OUTCOME
"Using Pole Base saved the contractor a lot of time and money. We delivered almost all of the bases within a two-month period," said Nathan Coronado, Outside Sales & Civil Engineer at CalPortland. "The contractor has told other branches in Northern California about Pole Base, and we have received three other jobs since the project."
This project is the recipient of the 2019 Pole Base Project of the Year award. It was chosen from hundreds of Pole Base projects completed around North America in 2019.
